Southwest Airlines Incident
Did you hear about the actress who was kicked off a Southwest flight for kissing her girlfriend? The airline maintains it was due to excessive kissing and had nothing to do with their sexual orientation but I am a little skeptical.

RE: Southwest Airlines Incident
Well, I don't know about that. I have had straight friends who literally went at it in public, and I thought they looked disgusting. A couple of incidents took place in bars and they were kicked out. I mean straight or gay, come on, go get a room!

RE: Southwest Airlines Incident
"Excessive kissing"? Really? If it was only kissing, I do not think they had any right to kick them off. If they did more than kissing, then maybe I could see it - no matter who it was!

RE: Southwest Airlines Incident
There's no doubt in my mind they were kicked off for being lesbians. It's a shame that in this world, something like that can happen. The woman was an actress too, right? I, for one, will not be using Southwest Airlines ever again.

RE: Southwest Airlines Incident
It is really hard to judge a thing like that if you were not actually there to see it. Something like that can be offensive to some people, and when you are in the business of dealing with the public, then you have to accomodate. I don't think they were wrong at all and I don't think it was because they were lesbians. That is a little judgemental in itself. I don't think it matters who you are.

RE: Southwest Airlines Incident
I don't know the details either and I certainly didn't follow the story, but Zhara is right. It is a business and if many were complaining, then the business more than likely will take the majority of paying customers side. Whether it was right or wrong, it doesn't matter. The company made the decision and they have that right. I'm sure it does make people around uncomfortable. I've never actually seen gay people kissing, but I wouldn't exactly get all uptight about it if I did see it. No big deal.

RE: Southwest Airlines Incident
I think it is a big deal that people are uncomfortable if a lesbian gives her partner a kiss. Just because somebody complains about it doesn't exactly mean it was a problem. Southwest has a reputation for embarrassing people and kicking them off planes. Both sets of people were paying customers. In addition, it is not a right that you have to be comfortable with everything going on around you. If things were out of hand the employee could have simply asked for it to stop.
