How important is education?
If you are thinking about dating somebody, how important is their education to you? Would you date somebody with very little education or does that matter to you?

RE: How important is education?
Education is a variable when it comes to relationships because you want your partner to be successful and be able to hold their own weight during a relationship.

That is true. You want to have a partner you can be proud of and success in work and education can be part of that. People with more education are generally more able to make money.

RE: How important is education?
Personally, being formally educated at a University, it is very important to me. It is an experience like no other. As bigoted as it may sound, I want someone on my educational level with similar aspirations for advancing in a career. Everyone is different though, so I'm sure there are outliers out there that would change my mind.

There is nothing wrong in that. If being on the same intellectual level allows you to better relate to your partner then that's great!

I also agree. I have dated people who weren't so educated and it never worked. I think it is impotant to have someone who is just as ambitious as you are. It is always an honorable trait.

I also think it's fine to have a strict idea of what you want in somebody in terms of education. Somebody with a better education is more likely to be independent and helpful in terms of making money to support a family than somebody without education.

RE: How important is education?
There is nothing at all wrong with valuing education. I prefer men who are educated because I really enjoy talking about college experiences. Even if they didn't go to school I want them to be well-read at least.

RE: How important is education?
I think level of education is unimportant, as long as he can read and write. Learning can happen outside of the classroom, and usually does. As long as he can read and knows how to learn, how many years in school or university is immaterial.

RE: How important is education?
Intellect is very important in a partner, but having diplomas is not always synonymous with being smart. Like someone already mentioned, you can be educated without going to the university. There are people who never had the (financial) possibility to have higher education, and I'm not going to let that aspect be a criterion when choosing my partner.
