Downer Friend
Do any of you have a friend who is just always negative and sad? I have a friend like that and it is so hard to get them to do anything fun. It's depressing.

RE: Downer Friend
I know a couple of those people. It's hard to be friends with somebody who is always so negative. It's hard to be around somebody who always brings the mood down.

Yeah, you can't help but feel down when around people like that. They are still my friend though and I care about them. |

Oh I hate that! I cant stand people who always look on the bad side of things and are negative. It is so hard to deal with and drags you down also. I tend to just not be friends with people like that. |

RE: Downer Friend
I can put up with a certain amount of negativity, but if it's a constant thing, I tend to stop hanging out with them. I have a hard enough time keeping my own mood sunny without someone dragging me down.

RE: Downer Friend
It's tough being around some people. They only want to talk about sad things and they bring everybody down. It's one thing to be genuinely sad and in need of help but it's another to be a downer.

RE: Downer Friend
Some people like to be that way to get attention. I hate going somewhere and then having to deal with someone like that I know that I can be a moody person myself, but when I get that way, I would rather just stay at home and be alone, rather than spoiling someone else's fun.

If they are just being sad for attention, that's another story. |

RE: Downer Friend
Nobody wants to hang out with someone that is depressing. Attitude is contagious, and it's impossible to have a good time if one of the people you're hanging out with looks/acts depressing.

RE: Downer Friend
I have one friend that we call Debbie Downer because she always wants to talk about depressing things. We go out to feel happy and good during hard times and she can't get over things.
