Men who always want to pay

Men who always want to pay
It seems like a lot of men still think they have to be the ones to pay on a date. The way I see it, we both have jobs so we should both pitch in or trade off. I don't like to feel that I owe somebody something because they paid for my dinner. How can I bring up the issue?

RE: Men who always want to pay
It's tough because society has told people that men should pay for women on dates. It's unfortunate and it should change. Men should not assume that they have to pay for every date and women shouldn't assume that they will be paid for.

RE: Men who always want to pay
I paid for coffee on my BF and my 1st date. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it is 50/50 and you are not the one paying all the time.

I would just come out with it. I bet they will be more than happy that you suggested it. I mean, who wants to be the one paying all the time?

RE: Men who always want to pay
I am always prepared to pay and I offer. Usually the guy will say no on the first date, but as time goes on, will be more comfortable with letting me pay sometimes.

RE: Men who always want to pay
It is society's fault and we should actively try to stop the stereotype that men should always pay on a date. Men and women in relationships should arrive at their own solutions for paying if they want to be in a healthy relationship.

RE: Men who always want to pay
I'm old fashioned; if he wants to pay for mine, I will be glad to let him! I don't have a job, so I can't pay most of the time anyway, but I try to have enough in case I end up with someone who doesn't pay.

RE: Men who always want to pay
My boyfriend insists that he will pay for the date because he asked me out and he would get mad if I pay my own share of food and fun expenses. It is sweet of him but I really find it awkward not to give an effort to pay for our date.

I think it never hurts to offer to pay. I doubt they'll take you up on it during the first date, but I'm sure the guys appreciate the offer.

I agree with you. There are a lot of women that want a man to pay for everything, but I stay away from those kind. I think it's fair to share the cost of everything. I've never had a problem with a woman that didn't want to help out. I don't know why a man would insist on not letting the woman not pay for anything, unless he's rich and the woman is broke or something.
